About Me

Originally from upstate New York, I've lived in Boston for the past 4 years, going to school at Northeastern University. With passions for both biological systems & information systems, I hope to continue to stay active in both throughout my life. Having started out studying Biochemistry, I fell in love with dealing with data after playing around with the tools freely available today.

Experience

Laboratory Research Assistant
The Cram Lab for Mechanotransduction at Northeastern University

I am working with C. elegans, fluorescent reporters, and image data in order to quantitatively characterize (working in ImageJ, Matlab) regulatory processes contingent for mechanotransduction. Chiefly, I am interested in accelerating the research workflow by adapting best practices for data management, collation, querying, processing, and visualization.

February 2016 - PRESENT

Analytical Development Co-op
Selecta Biosciences

I developed automation programs for routine analytical testing. Responsible for the machines involved and the development of their assays, I delivered & validated a set of process changes. Further, I designed a training plan, continuity plan and maintenance documentation for the operation of the automation equipment. I was responsible for my daily activities & overall direction, and presented bi-weekly to the analytical development group on my problems, progress, and plans.

JUNE 2016 - DECEMBER 2016

Protein Engineering Co-op
Shire

I was responsible for investigating optimizability of a therapeutic candidate, and providing a data set to either change the current candidate, or illuminate available options. To serve this end, in a given day at the lab, I would be doing a varied mix of molecular biology, cell culture, plasmid design, binding assays, and kinetics experiments. I gained experience with managing a scientific workflow, designing experiments, and developing assays.
